There are a good number of different eCommerce platforms that might be a strong fit for hosting your online store. Still, Magento Commerce has remained a certain favorite for years now. This popular eCommerce platform is used for 12% of all online stores and currently power approximately 1.2% of the entire internet.
While about 11,000 current Magento stores run on Magento 2, there’s a newer version of the software coming soon. The latest version of Magento eCommerce is Magento 2.4.4. Keep reading to learn all about the newest Magento eCommerce solutions!
Magento’s latest update: Magento 2.4.4
Magento 2.4.4 is the latest version of Magento Commerce, though the software has undergone a name change in the last couple of months. Adobe Commerce is the new name of the paid version of Magento due to Adobe’s acquisition of Magento Commerce back in 208. While this is the new official name, most of us still refer to this classic iconic platform as Magento Commerce.
Now, what exactly is Magento 2.4.4? The latest version of Magento eCommerce was released earlier this year and features interesting improvements and updates compared to the late Magento 2.4.3. This is the newest version of the software and worth upgrading to. Let’s see what makes Magento 2.4.4 a convenient update!
Why you should upgrade to Magento 2.4.4
It supports PHP 8.1.
Since the old Magento 2.4.3 only supported PHP 7.4, everyone was expecting the latest version of Magento eCommerce to improve in this area. Luckily, now the newest versions of both softwares are supported on their respective platforms and run smoothly together. This improvement leads to less code and array unpacking, read-only properties, easier debugging, and faster class creation.
Updated Javascript features.
The latest version of Magento eCommerce supports the 3.6 update of jQuery. Its user interface has also been updated and improved for Magento 2.4.4. Most of the changes were made to rendering tabs and widgets, allowing for the interface to run smoother for all new users. Some of the most well-known scripts, likeRequire.js or Prototype.js, have been updated to their latest versions as well.
Many libraries have been updated.
The following Magento 2 libraries have been updated to prepare them for a good amount of use.
- script.aculo.us
- Chart.js
- moment.js
- Moment-timezone-with-data.js
- matchMedia.js
- underscore.js
- Prototype JS
- Require JS
- LessCSS
Improved GRAPHQL functionalities.
GRAPHQL is the query language for any of your APIs, so it’s only natural that this aspect of the Magento Program was improved upon. With the latest updates to it, GRAPHQL can now provide even a more complete description of the data on your site and regarding your user’s experiences. Now Magento 2.4.4 features GRAPHQL new mutations, coverage for negotiable quotes, a reduced response time, a new ebonyx library, descriptive transaction names, and more efficient translation solutions.
The new M2 core is much lighter and easy to use.
It’s no secret that previous versions of Magento Commerce were jam-packed with a lot of modules that weren’t necessary to run the basic Magento 2.4.3 functionalities. Well, Magento 2.4.4 gets rid of all the excess modules that aren’t essential to run the software. This helps the new M2 core be much lighter thanks to the weight shredded off it by the updates. Though you can always download those extra modules on the Magento Marketplace if you need them.
There are new payment methods.
A rehaul for the payment section of Magenta 2 was long overdue, and we’re glad to see things changed for the better with the latest version of Magento eCommerce. Now, this convenient eCommerce platform easily supports PayPal, Venmo, Shop Now Pay Later options and other flexible payment options.
